Our Morgan Hill workshop is where Scott Cao's team of
internationally trained artisans build every instrument
completely by hand, with Scott himself overseeing the work.
We're particular about our wood: Bosnian maple for its
density and grain, Italian spruce for resonance, finished in
a traditional Italian oil varnish in either an antiqued or a
clean, modern look.
These instruments have earned steady praise from teachers across the country and are trusted by advancing students and working professionals alike, a reputation built on getting tone, looks, and playability right at the same time.

Our Campbell shop is where you can see and try Scott Cao
instruments in person. Every violin, viola, and cello here is
handcrafted start to finish, with the same attention to
tone, appearance, and playability that defines our
workshops.
If you're not ready to buy, our rental program lets you play a quality instrument without the commitment, and we're happy to set aside time for you to try a few and find the one that actually fits how you play.

Our Guangzhou workshop is run by award-winning luthiers working
under Scott's direct supervision. Every instrument is carved
entirely by hand, with careful attention to graduating the top
and back for a fuller, more refined tone. We use premium
selected wood and apply varnish by hand, and the lineup spans a
range of grades and sizes without cutting corners on
craftsmanship.
